Landing pages for Facebook and Instagram ads
A landing page for Facebook and Instagram ads should do one thing: turn a scroll-stopping ad into a single action, on a phone, in a few seconds. Meta visitors weren't searching for you, so the page has to repeat the ad's promise, load fast on mobile data, ask for little, and report every lead back to Meta so the algorithm can find more people like them.

How Meta traffic is different from Google traffic
Google visitors type a need into a search box. Meta visitors were scrolling a feed and tapped because the ad caught their attention. That changes the page in three ways:
- Interest is weaker. The page has to rebuild the reason they tapped within the first screen: the same headline, offer and image as the ad.
- Almost everyone is on a phone, often inside the Facebook or Instagram in-app browser, which is slower than a normal browser. Every extra script costs leads.
- The algorithm learns from your page. Meta optimises delivery toward people who convert, so the Pixel and Conversions API events your page sends directly affect who sees the ad next.
Meta's own rules for landing pages
Meta's advertising standards say ads must not send people to non-functional landing pages. Its policy covers four areas: the page must work and be accessible, must not block people from reaching or leaving it, must match the product or service in the ad, and must not require extra actions on Meta's apps before showing the content (Meta Transparency Center). In practice that means:
- No pop-ups that trap the visitor or disable the back button.
- No bait-and-switch: if the ad says "free consultation", the page offers a free consultation.
- No broken forms, dead buttons or pages that only work on desktop.
Special ad categories
If you advertise housing, employment, credit or financial products, or social issues and politics, Meta requires you to declare a special ad category. Housing ads, for example, get a fixed 18 to 65+ age range, all genders, no lookalike audiences, no ZIP-code targeting and no location exclusions (Meta for Developers). The landing page should then speak to the offer, not to a type of person.
The structure that converts Meta traffic
- Hero that mirrors the ad. Same promise, same visual, one button. Visitors should feel they arrived where the ad said.
- The offer in one line. What they get, by when, and what it costs (or that it's free).
- Proof close to the button. Real reviews, before-and-after results, credentials or a guarantee.
- A short form. Name and phone number or email, plus at most one qualifying question. Every extra field lowers the conversion rate.
- Objections answered. Price, time, "is this for me?", in a few short FAQs.
- A second, easier action. A WhatsApp or call button for people who won't fill in a form.
Speed matters more than design on Meta
In-app browsers on mid-range phones are slow, so a heavy builder page or a large video can lose visitors before the headline appears. Keep the first screen to text, one optimised image and the button; load chat widgets and animations later. Our checklist for paid ads landing pages has the full list of speed checks.
Tracking: Pixel plus Conversions API
Browser tracking alone misses conversions because of ad blockers, iOS privacy settings and cookie limits. Send the same Lead event from the browser (Meta Pixel) and from your server (Conversions API) with a shared event ID, so Meta counts it once (Meta for Developers). Save the UTM parameters and fbclid with every lead, so you can see which ad produced which customer, not just which form fill. Step-by-step setup is in our Meta Pixel and Conversions API guide.
Instant forms or a landing page?
Meta's instant forms (Lead Ads) keep people inside the app and usually produce cheaper leads, but more of them are casual or wrong numbers. A landing page costs more per lead but gives context, so the leads are more serious. Many advertisers test both and compare cost per qualified lead or per sale. Frequently asked questions
Do I need a landing page for Facebook ads?
Not always. Instant forms work without one. A landing page usually produces fewer but more qualified leads, gives you a page you own, and lets you track and retarget visitors. For high-value offers, test both.
What is the best landing page for Instagram ads?
A mobile-first page that repeats the ad's promise, loads quickly in the Instagram in-app browser, asks for two or three fields and offers WhatsApp or a call as a second option.
Why are my Facebook ads getting clicks but no leads?
Common causes are a page that doesn't match the ad, slow mobile loading, a long form, or a broken form or Pixel. Check the page on a phone over mobile data and submit a test lead.
Can a landing page get my Facebook ad rejected?
Yes. Meta reviews the destination. Pages that don't work, trap visitors, or don't match the ad's product or service can be rejected under its non-functional landing page policy.
